Wandelmars also known as AVD was performed for the 47th time this year.
Every year the “ vierdaagse wandelmars “ ( four day walking march in Dutch ) is held in Paramaribo, the capital city of Suriname, South America. Many groups and single walkers will participate. All the groups dressed up for this occasion. They will walk and dance coming next three days mostly under the hot sun. The event attracts a lot of viewers along the streets with different routes on all four days.
Today’s walk started in silent. Because Suriname is mourning for their two famous artists Stephen Franklin Westmaas WESJE, (Born December 23, 1971) and Marlon Jeffrey Stjeward TURBO, (Born on July 14, 1969).
They lost their life on April 23, 2011 after a car accident while driving together to Nieuw Nickerie. They buried together today, in the cemetery of Marius Rust, in Paramaribo / SURINAME. My deepest condolences to their families and friends, R.I.P.
That’s why all the participants, walkers were carrying a black ribbon with them since 47th of AVD Wandelmars 2011 started.
